25 October 2021  The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, received the Ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelhamid Chebchoub, in a farewell visit today, and thanked him for his dedicated long-term work on promoting traditional friendship and comprehensive relations between the two countries. President Vučić expressed satisfaction that the Algerian Prime Minister Benabderrahmane participated in the recent gathering dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade, hoping that the visit would prove to be a flywheel for further improvement of Serbian-Algerian cooperation, which is currently below existing possibilities. President Vučić and Ambassador Chebchoub discussed a number of topics of common interest, including further steps in developing bilateral relations. Ambassador Chebchoub expressed expectation that new agreements will be signed soon that will enable more diverse cooperation, as well as that the work of the Joint Cooperation Committee will be activated. President Vučić especially thanked Algeria for its principled position regarding the non-recognition of the self-proclaimed independence of the so-called Kosovo. Ambassador Chebchoub said that he brings great memories from Serbia, while President Vučić wished him much success in his professional life and happiness on a personal level.
